Desk Hack
Renters rarely get a built-in memo board, but that doesn't mean you can't fake one. This corkboard tile trick uses removable adhesive strips to create a full pinboard wall that lifts off clean at move-out, no holes, no residue, no landlord drama.
What You'll Need
- Thin cork tile squares, 4-6 pack (~$14)
- Removable double-sided mounting strips rated for walls (~$7)
- Level app or bubble level (free/on-hand)
- Pencil for light placement marks (~$1)
- Push pins or small clips for display (~$5)
How to Do It
- Plan your layout by arranging tiles on the floor first to find a grid you like.
- Mark light pencil dots at each tile corner so placement stays even and easy to erase later.
- Apply removable mounting strips to the back of each tile, pressing firmly for full contact.
- Stick tiles to the wall one at a time, following your pencil guide for a tidy grid.
- Pin photos, notes, and reminders once the whole board is set in place.
- Remove any tile anytime by peeling slowly—strips lift clean with no residue or paint damage.
DESIGNER TIP
Mix in one or two fabric-covered tiles among the cork for texture and to soften the look of an all-cork grid.
