Foldaway Fix

No dryer hookup shouldn't mean tripping over a rack all week. This wall-mounted foldaway rack hangs on removable adhesive hooks and folds flat against the wall when you're not using it, so your floor space stays clear and your deposit stays safe.

What You'll Need

  • Foldaway wall-mounted drying rack, wood or metal ($25-$45)
  • Heavy-duty removable adhesive hooks or strips rated for 5-10 lbs ($6-$10)
  • Level (phone app works fine, no purchase needed)
  • Microfiber cloth for cleaning the wall surface before mounting ($2)

How to Do It

  1. Clean the chosen wall spot thoroughly and let it dry completely so the adhesive bonds properly.
  2. Mark your hook placement using a level to keep the rack straight and even.
  3. Press the adhesive hooks firmly for 30 seconds each, then wait the full cure time listed on the packaging before hanging anything.
  4. Hang the rack's mounting brackets onto the hooks and test the fold-out motion before loading with laundry.
  5. Fold the rack flat against the wall after each use to reclaim your floor space instantly.
  6. Remove the hooks slowly and evenly at move-out — they release clean with no residue or wall damage.
DESIGNER TIP

Choose a rack in a wood tone or matte black that blends with your wall color — folded up, it reads more like a decor piece than a chore.
